Uncover Hidden Gems at Bargain Prices!

Looking for great deals and unique finds? Come explore our Trash & Treasure Sale – a one-of-a-kind event where treasures await you at every turn! The Michigan City Senior Center has been hosting this event for over 20 years. It’s a great opportunity for seniors to sell gently used items in the comfort of a 15,000 square foot facility. Many seniors no longer want to deal with the hassle of having their own yard sale so this gives our members a safe place to put their used goods up for sale instead of sending them off to a land fill. The event features baked goods for sale, donuts and coffee for sale in the morning, and sloppy joe sandwiches and hot dogs for lunch purchases. All food is offered at value pricing and all proceeds help support programming at the Senior Center.

What You Might Find:

  • 40+ tables to shop!

  • Vintage collectibles

  • Furniture & home décor

  • Clothing & accessories

  • Books, toys, and more

  • Tools, electronics, and gadgets

  • FREE entry & parking

Don’t miss out – treasures like these won’t last long! No early birds, please.
See you at the sale!

Recreation

The OttoApp

We have made an official switch from Jarvis to The OttoApp. We love that OttoApp is a mobile native platform that gives you the user a very simple and streamlined way to view and sign up for Park and Rec activities. Right now, the app will host our leagues, events, and classes; but in the future we plan to provide facility rentals, merchandise sales, concession sales, and much more through the application.

Why Park and Rec Leagues for Youth

Choosing the right sports league for your child is crucial. Here’s why Park and Rec leagues are a fantastic option over travel leagues:

  1. Affordability: Park and Rec leagues are budget-friendly, making sports accessible to all families without the hefty costs associated with travel leagues.

  2. Community Focus: These leagues emphasize local community engagement, fostering friendships and teamwork among neighborhood kids.

  3. Balanced Schedule: With less travel, families can enjoy a more balanced schedule, allowing kids to participate in other activities and spend quality time at home.

  4. Skill Development: Park and Rec leagues provide excellent coaching and skill development opportunities in a supportive environment.

  5. Fun and Inclusive: The primary focus is on fun and inclusivity, ensuring every child gets to play and enjoy the game.

Park and Rec sports aren’t just about being the best. They’re about giving everyone a chance to play the sports they love, even if they didn’t make the school team or aren’t aiming for a higher competitive level. For example, in baseball, a kid who usually plays third base in their travel league can try pitching, first base, or even center field. It offers opportunities for kids who might be role players on their school team to become leaders in a different setting. As a high school coach, I understand the importance of pushing kids to be their best. However, Park and Rec sports focus more on fun and development rather than just competition and winning.

Adult Crafts

We will be having monthly Adult Crafts/Game Nights. There will be a Pour and Paint on March the 8th. The cost will be $25 and will be held at Krueger Memorial Hall. CLICK HERE to head to the FB event page.

Moving forward, starting in April we plan on having these Pour and Paints on the 2nd Thursday of the month at 5:30. They may move around to different locations throughout the year, but we are going to try to stay consistent on the 2nd Thursdays.
